so ORHS is going to have two operable locos? what's the situation with selling off all the passenger cars? I heard W&LE canceled the lease of the spur and partnership with ORHS.

Short answers... Possibly. Sold them for use elsewhere since we can't run excursions. And yes.

We bought Art Davis' DABO, Inc. on the other side of town and moved all equipment and rail-related operations over there. We have about 2 miles of track in desperate, dire need of attention. Hence, selling off superfluous stuff to raise a bit of cash to do track work. Begging free ties and ballast is getting a lot harder to do.

does this mean that ORHS is keeping the RSD1 and unlike selling it like all their other equipment?

We're on the fence. Our current thinking: If someone wants to buy it, fine. If it will run, we'll likely keep it. That's why I'm looking into what it needs before we try to fire it up. Same with some other pieces.

To dispel rumors before they start.... We're not selling off everything, just paring t

Well, I'm a member of Mid-Continent RR Historical Society and I certainly remember our auction that was ostensibly to "pare things down to a manageable level so we can invest into upgrades to our properties." We had a very disappointing result for the stuff that we sold. ORHS should be very careful about its expectations.

I hear ya. I have absolutely no expectations of a "quick sell" for anything. If something does sell, no matter how small, I consider it a win for both parties. I do expect the process to take years.

But we be gettin' OT....

How was it disappointing? Did you not find good homes for what you wanted to deaccession? Did people bid and then not pay up? Did they pay and then leave it there rusting?
