My impression from 50 years of working on projects with historical societies is that uninteresting oral history interviews are usually the result of not making enough of an effort to locate people who have interesting stories to tell.

The New Jersey is worth a visit if you get the chance. We paid a little extra for the personalized tour from a former crew member and it was well worth it.
