Thank you, Kelly and enjoy your retirement. I hope you will be willing to have your brain picked from time to time in the future. I have appreciated your willingness to share here.

I would love to press the like button for many of the congratulations posts above.

Kelly, you never failed to answer this novice's silly questions about your trade and share your technical knowledge. Because of you, I have an understanding of what my ancestors did in the 20th Street PRR shops in Columbus, Ohio and while running C&O freights north of Columbus and make the connection between them and my desire to build and fix things, although I ended up doing it digitally.

Thank you and as someone else said, and as a former sailor (I also remember at one point you built/owned steam launch), fair winds and following seas.

Kelly - best wishes on your retirement... I enjoyed seeing you at the RSAC meetings, and working with your people in the shop at Strasburg. Clear signals ahead!

Happy retirement Kelly, and also Thanks for answering all questions that have been asked by us, and the photos. You are a man with a wealth of knowledge and also a man that cares about Steam.
It takes many people to run a shop, but it also takes leadership, and direction to get the job done right and on time... again enjoy your well-deserved retirement.

I don’t what else more can be said but do enjoy life in a much less structured environment. I’ve enjoyed your posts and I’ll be a bit selfish and will ask you to please keep us posted on whatever railroad related endeavors you get yourself sucked into.

Kelly,

Congratulations on your well deserved retirement! It was an honor to work with you during my tenure at SRC years ago. You were the best cubicle next door neighbor I have ever had! I enjoyed our conversations and I can say I learned alot from you on what goes into the business of a steam locomotive shop.

Best of luck and enjoy your retirement!

Chris Edwards

Congratulations Kelly! I've always looked forward to your "latest" columns and I hope someone keeps the tradition going.
Having worked the gamut of machine tool work over the years from entry level through the shop, Special Products and Tool Room machinist and then management I thoroughly appreciate the work that Strasburg turns out.
I totally agree on not accepting subpar work! In reality there should be a web site that rates the contract work from individuals and companies. Sort of like a BBB of restoration specialists. As you mentioned, the first bad steam disaster will be the last in the US.
Enjoy your retirement and stay in touch.

Congratulations and enjoy your well deserved retirement. Your reputation for professionalism is among the best in the business and you will be sorely missed. You were never to busy to answer questions from some of us in desperate need of information and what you gave us in return was always spot on.

High Green Ahead!

I'm sure you will be missed at Strasburg. I know that we will all miss your periodic reports. Enjoy retirement! Best wishes. Ned
