I recently sent a message about having interest in being on the waitlist for the photo charter session to the ticket office and just now used the mailchimp link for other notifications about excursions. I haven’t heard anything yet, but will emails only be sent to those who are accepted to the photocharter? I have another friend as well who sent an email earlier than mine and hasn’t heard anything. We would just like to know that the ticket office is receiving our requests. (We know that there isn’t a guarantee to get in).

Another question I have is will there be open window coach seating? And is there any way to check the different prices of tickets throughout the train before they go on sale like the RBMN did with Reading 2102?

Sincerely, a very eager Michigan steam enthusiast.

If you requested to be added to the waitlist, you'll be sent separate information once the photo charter plans and pricing are finalized. Right now the email is only collecting the names and addresses of interested participants.

There will be an open-air car and at least 1-2 open window coaches for the all-day excursion.

Pricing for all levels of the public passenger trips should be finalized and on the website by Sunday evening ahead of the Tuesday ticket sales. Also, feel free to PM or email me directly if you need anything!

Has Metra reached out to you about bringing the 765 back to Chicago once she’s equipped with PTC?

Kelly has hinted that this may/may not be a possibility before.

Well she’d have to get PTC to even be considered to be brought back to Metra. However, with how successful the first three were. I don’t see why they wouldn’t try and bring them
back. However, only thing stopping them is getting PTC on the 765. Which I believe they got a grant for

That trip to from Edon to Hillsdale and back is certainly tempting, especially at that price. I might have to make the 8.5 hour drive out to Edon, depending on finances. I've seen three of the six surviving Berkshires, but somehow have never seen the arguably most famous one.

Metra's got a bit of an uphill climb back from the pandemic, but we have an ongoing conversation about how to interface with their PTC system upon a return to Chicago. As we are building our own dedicated train set for our Indiana venture, we'll also have a good number of cars in hand already for just such an opportunity. We had a trip planned in October 2020, but we all know how that year wound up. Hopeful we can revisit those.
