It might useful to note just the other day, the 2779 was picked up by the local rock runner and moved to another location (Hanover).

It appears as though 2779 may have been moved back to the Annapolis Junction location based on this view from google earth.

That satellite shot was taken this last summer and yes, #2785 is still sitting there in pretty much the same shape as in those 2020 pictures with the missing sheet metal and handrail.

Does anyone know if 2785 there? It is hard to tell if it's still there buried under the leaves on google earth.

ANNAPOLIS Junction, not "Arlington Junction."

A reminder that 2785 has photo confirmation upthread of being rendered too far dismantled for any Class One to consider moving her.

Apparently 2778 is to be saved, by an "unusual" group in Oklahoma:

As it turns out, the “diamond” from last week was actually a diamond in the rough!
Sometimes projects find you, as was the case with this former Lehigh Valley U23B, forgotten for nearly two decades in the trees, but still somehow on track connected to the outside world!
As it turns out, our former SP B30-7 replaced this Conrail GE in the early 2000’s at Wimpey Material’s yard in Camden, and the old GE sat on the tail track for the better part of 20 years with the vegetation slowly engulfing it.
While the Lehigh Valley is slightly outside of our usual area of focus, we couldn’t let the opportunity to save this rare General Electric product from the inevitable torch from pass by, and we are planning to work with Conrail to move the U Boat out next year, and eventually cosmetically restore it to its original Lehigh Valley livery"

As much as it might 'make sense' to have a preserved LV unit in Sayre, my experience with the group is that they couldn't make their mind up on a steam locomotive whistle I have willing to donate that's off the Sayre shop switcher.

So any group that steps forward on this should be supported.
