I’m curious how many of the “features” of the locomotive they will retain. I would assume they will use the stoker but I wonder about the booster and the feed water heater. Always a trade off between usefulness and maintenance.

I'm sure the booster and the stoker will be kept unless she is converted to oil.
With the scarcity of Coffin FWH and the lighter duty she will be subjected to, I've heard through the grapevine she may just wind up with two injectors. One less maintenance item to eliminate.

I could have missed it, but these Frisco rebuilds also now have a 38" combustion chamber.

When Dave Conrad was CMO, remember he's the one that bought the ex-Knox & Kane Chinese 2-8-2 - after it had been inside the Kane enginehouse after an arson fire that burned every bit of paint off of it and left it for dead. That's their prime power now.

So they've earned the benefit of the doubt, just sayin'.

Yes, part of the reason it grew into a 2-8-2.

what's the estimated price something like the 1352 would go for in its current state? Likely more than $100K, but probably less then 250-300K? Obviously the people who know can't say, but it is interesting. Same could be asked about the CN 5288, surely it was in the 100-200K range, not 300-400K+

More like half a dollar a pound, minus the cost of asbestos mitigation.

Hi All
The Essex steam train & riverboat,, like using the 2-8-2 mikes on their line,. This will be the third Mike that they will own,, with # 97 their 2-8-0 being the only Consolidation they own..

I would like also to offer Congratulations to the Railroad on their recent purchase of Frisco # 1352.. The locomotive will be fine addition to their fleet of Steam Locomotives...

I don't know what plans the railroad does have for the locomotive,, I would like to see the locomotive rebuild as Frisco and with the same number.. But time will tell once the locomotive arrives at the railroad shops,, and the rebuild begins... Pat.
