Mr. Wills, I refuse to answer on the grounds that it might incriminate me, but my superiors in the AHTS may be able to shed some light on this. A few years ago Richard Steinbrenner was just about to sort this out with the NH&I, and had a sugar daddy for the project, but the reaper got him before the contested ownership matter could be settled, and before I could help to spend any of that money.

Viva NdeM #3028 !!!

The #3038 was covered in this forum recently when she was removed from her display position in Chapultapec Park, and relocated to a station on the new Metro line to Mexico City's brand new International Airport. She HAD been in excellent shape. First, they didn't move the tender with her, and I've not been able to ascertain it's whereabouts. What's worse is that the move itself was done by somebody with no experience moving steam locomotives, and nobody with any was consulted. Many parts disappeared (coincidentally they were brass), and the lifting straps were just wrapped around the plumbing and fittings, smashing them all to Hell. Yea, she has fresh paint, but looks like she was in a rollover crash....

IMHO, #3034 has the best shot at ever running again.

I'd settle for NdeM 3034 under steam again. I had my very first steam locomotive cab ride on her on August 10, 1966, when I was fifteen years old. Sammy, we can dream, can't we?

YES WE SURE CAN. And if they ever start raising funds to fix her up, I'll reach for my checkbook and do more than just dream. My first choice, #3040 is missing many vital parts, and has a huge mud burn on the fireman's side. --- On the other hand #3034 was the last NdeM Niagara in steam, unless somebody can verify the rumor about the #3036 being used in a beer commercial. (Don, please check your PMs.)

Hi Guys,
Sorry I meant the status of 3028. She is the one that is in pieces scattered around the New Hope & Ivyland yard in New Hope PA.
Thanks - David Notarius

All I'm at liberty to say is in the first reply on PAGE TWO of this thread.

If history is any indication, you will have an infinite wait. There's a self-appointed "representative" that occasionally operates at NH&I that chimes in when he wants to promote himself, but that's about it. Nobody actually from either group/location is likely to discuss sensitive issues that may paint it in a bad light.

Why, to whomever do you refer?
Yeah, I didn’t really expect a response from either party.
