I've seen a number of posts on Facebook announcing Ross' death.

Read the dates on the replies Joe. They were all made before his death.

Unfortunately that treatment program didn't last out the month.

RIP Ross - Steam ON!

I've been a lurker here for many years, but would like to offer my condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Rowland. As a young boy, my parents took me on the 614's Port Jervis trips kickstarting a lifelong interest in history and engineering. I hope Mr. Rowland's loved ones can take solace in the fact that he lived a long life in which he was able to follow his dreams and do things which some said were impossible.

Mr. Rowland's sale of C&O 614 appears prescient in both ensuring a good home for the locomotive and saving his inheritors a major headache. I'm sorry that he didn't get to see 614 in action one more time.
