Steve, how is this GN leaflet put together? How many panels on a side, and in what order? Thanks -- RCL

Great, that helps! However, I think you haven't scanned all the pages yet. -- RCL

Hi Steve... I just joined this outfit and after I posted 2 items tonight I looked at previous posts and was thrilled to find yours. I went to the '49 RR fair with my sister and parents by train from western Massachusetts. I was 7 years old and was in heaven. I do have a quick-out-the-window photo of a Nickle Plate PA in blue and white taken in transit. My father was born in 1893 and had a fondness for trains, understandable as they were his generation's magic carpet.
I will read all the posts later but I wanted to thank you for your efforts.
OBTW, what did you get for a scanner? Resolution?

Steve, the Pullman leaflet is now on my RR Fair site. Thanks for your good work in making this memorabilia available. If not the same as a locomotive or structure, it's still part of "railway preservation."

Western Massachusetts to Chicago for the fair? That is a dedicated rail fan.

You are very welcome for my small effort. It's easy, just scan it on my HP 2480 printer, put it on my Facebook page then link it here.

For the slides we bought this scanner:

http://www.amazon.com/Innovative-Techno ... B00264GNR2

It's 5 mega pixel resolution.

Well thank you but this is a whole lot easier than working on the real thing.

Having spent about 20 years as a machinist and a gear head, I can appreciate the effort that restoring old, rusty, very large and heavy equipment requires. What I'm doing is so simple compared to that.

"Western Massachusetts to Chicago for the fair? That is a dedicated rail fan."

Hi Steve...

I was curious myself, so I looked up a TT from the 50s and travel time with the B&M connecting at Albany (2,5 hours) with the NYC to Chicago (13.5 hours) was 16 hours and a possible arrival at 7:30 AM. I don't remember much of the trip, but I'll bet my eyes were as big a saucers for most of it.

Here's a link to the site with the August, 1952 Official Guide: http://www.timetableworld.com

Wicked cool, eh?
Sid

32 hours travel time, round trip. Did you sleep on the train, spend the day at the fair, then turn around and go back home? Or did you spend a night or two in Chicago?

That is a lot of travel time.

Steve
