One of many interesting questions raised by this whole affair is: Would the 952 have gotten the long overdue attention it has now cosmetically recieved if the Lackawanna Ch. had not started this action?
It will be very interesting to see how the court rules on this, and as I've stated above, parts of the ruling will be on issues I suspect exist in a good number of facilities.

I did not mention IRM delibrately, as they say that their collection is Mid Western : equipment that ran or was built in the Chicago area.

When you consider that it includes Pullman that covers a lot of territory. But
they do not claim National Scope.

Not to nitpick, but... IRM does focus on the midwest, however the mainline railroad collections (steam, diesel, freight and passenger car) are geared more towards representing specific types than specific railroads or regions and tend to be national in scope. IRM makes an effort to have as many representative steam engine wheel arrangements, diesel models, and passenger car types as possible. (Note IRM's Tuskeegee 2-6-2, CAGR AS-416, and B&M diner.) The traction collection, on the other hand, is almost purely regional in focus.

And what about that Lehigh & New England 0-6-0?

PRR GG1, NYC S-motor, B&M wood diner-lounge, L&N FA-2, just to name a few "out of region" items off the top of my head.

In my view, IRM certainly collects "nationally".
