Circles are fun when I'm running 5 days a week mid April to Nov with 10 trains a day.

The Mason is a fine machine itself but I think I'll have to settle for K-28s and -36s for this year. How's the state of things at the Village these days?

Hands down --- Barney is why I'M here now. True, he may be a 70-year old crumaggen living in a 30-something body, but ya gotta love the kind of dedication that it takes to spend 10 years taking a hunk of scrap back to operation.

He ain't kiddin' --- this guy LIVES for getting other peoples hand on the throttle. A rare thing indeed; but something that speaks to the kind of guy he is --- and while both will kill me for saying this, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

the state here is very good as we've been busy this winter. The Torch Lake has a new cab and the passenger cars have new paint. There is also a longer storage track for the #8. The #8 has been recieving some attention as well!

On the other hand, a 4-8-4 running at 60mph on a main line can get you in trouble a lot quicker, and mistakes can be a lot more expensive. In that case operating crews who know the locomotive, and are proactive (as well as quicker to react), are important - there's plenty of time for a pilot to impart knowledge about the track on an as-needed basis.
