I like that Texan park locomotive with the diesel-hydraulic drive! Wonder if they could build it as a diesel-electric?

Considering that the model manufacturers are now making model articulated locomotives with both engines swiveling (diesel drive, the reviewers call it) I'm just gonna get me an old Harvestore, lay it on it's side over an SD-40, and call it a Challenger. The public won't know the difference.

That's what we envisioned 20 years ago. We talked with the Glover family about acquiring the Glover Machine Works site as a base of operations and establishing a Glover museum to preserve all of the archive material on site. This would have been a great location...adjacent to a major highway, right next to the old W&A. This was well before one of the 3 Glover locomotives in the main shop building was moved to downtown Marietta where Dave got to do the cosmetic restoration, and long before the property eventually sold and (apparently) most of the artifacts were disposed. What a pity that loss was.

We planned to make the replicas available for use at reinactment events and other local/regional town festivals. But, as they say...all it takes is money. So, gtcivil, if you win the lottery let me know. I still have all my old files on the project. BTW, are you a student at GT or alumnus?
