Out here in Western Kentucky, we plan to move our ex-Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railway wood bay-window caboose to our work site in Hardin , KY, and begin its complete restoration. Also, work continues on the rebuild of ex-Lee Tidewater Cypress 2-6-2 #4 (Baldwin, 1914). The boiler is currently being prepared for an ultrasound inspection.

Frank,
Yes this is the car that is presently painted as Indiana Railway 202, her first operator

The car just got a paint job; the small details like the trolley retrever, headlight, windows etc are still as they were on the Portland Traction Company.
There was a red and a blue version during those years. The decision has not been made yet. I eexpect it will be discussed when they start sanding. Ted

Todd: I have to ask ...what is the reason behind replacing a 26 brake system with a 6 brake system ???

The 1518 is being returned to "as built", which means 6 series brakes.

This is something that I have mixed feelings about. It was built with 6 series, and has been returned to it's 1948 appearance. However, for maintenance reasons, I think I would leave the 26 brakes in it.

It's not my decision though.

And, 5056 needs the brake system.

Thats sorta what I figured. I have been involved in the installation and changeover of a whole series of brake systems to the 26 and it is superior to them all from a maintnance and operation point. However when we get to the brake system on our interurban car it will be with the ancient M23 system. I can see where they are coming from.

Yes, same place. The #4 was built for the Burton Swartz Cypress Company for their operation at Perry, Florida (near Tallahassee), but moved south to Copeland in 1943. The operation folded in 1957.

At the WW&F Railway Museum:

- continue fund raising for locomotive #9's new boiler. Don't look for any actual work to start on it this year, unless we get most of what we need.
- repaint station & freight shed to two-tone WW&F green colors (from the current yellow/brown W&Q scheme)
- finish our new machine shop and stock it with machinery.
- repaint the engine house
- probably repaint our caboose (it needs it)
- put our new track in service and lay some more track (not preservation but restoration)
- perhaps start building a new flatcar.
