Apart from some scorched and warped sheet metal, obvious problems with low melting temp bearing metals and packings, and all lubricants / journal pads, etc. it probably isn't as bad as it appears. If I were interested in acquiring a nice small 2-8-2, I'd certainly give it a good inspection and serious consideration. I haven't laid hands on it - perhaps somebody who has done so could comment further.
