Save the F40PH

Now for the next part what do I chose?

-General charitable purpose
-To create a charitable risk pool
-Educational purpose
-Literary purpose
-Scientific purpose
-Clubs or organizations

Well I really hope another F40 or two gets preserved. There are reports of former NJT units 274 & 302 being shipped to the Montreal, Maine & Atlantic, most likely to get their prime movers removed to be exported for the dreaded Poland project. I do wish someone could step in and run a pair of F40s in excursion service, something like what Bennett Levin does with the Pennsy E8s.

Also to add to the preserved list, the Tennessee Central Railroad Museum has #s 258 and 375.

The Tennessee Central Railway Museum had two Ex Amtrak F40PHs 258 and
375. 375 was known to be in working condition as of June 18, 2005 while 258 had suffered fire damage while in Amtrak service and was more or less for display. Unfortunately The Tennessee Central Railway Museum has recently sold these two locomotives to Metra where they will be re-built (most likely losing there Amtrak "charm" and stile, as well as some historic aspects). It is this organizations goals to save original F40PHs that were built in the "Amtrak Stile" to see these two previously preserved locomotives be bought and re-built is disheartening.

There is at least one kicking around in Iowa pulling the Hawkeye Express football trains.
