Let me also add there is at least one FA preserved in Cuba as well as an example in Mexico

There is one surviving New York Central Alco FA,
NYC Alco FA2 number 1102, owned by the WNYRHS, and stored deep in a Buffalo, NY yard. not accessible to the general public.
came from the LIRR, not yet restored.

The two Sharks in Michigan, which technically count as cab units! ;)
and thats it..10 total surviving NYC Cab units..

Incredibly, not one single NYC or PRR EMD F-unit escaped the torch.

To answer a few questions:
1) the cigar band was done for a railfan day back on the SRNJ in 1994 because one of our main restoration guys (at that time) was also a NYC fan.

2) Caring about seeing the FA restored is not the issue- getting the bodies to Winslow is. I've asked numerous times through our newsletter and had only one or two responses.

3) Since many of our members may want to help but are too far away for a one-day trip, that might serve as a damper for getting volunteers. Having a place for people to stay (inexpensively) might remedy that, but I'm not sure.

Has anyone in the Northeast (outside of the EBT and WW&F) had success with an extended work session- 3-5 days, where people can actually come in and make visible progress on an item instead of diddling around for a day and not really getting much accomplished?
