Friday, April 15th

Tom Healy will lead a crew starting at Phoenicia at 10am. They plan to continue tamping and plating ties east of MP 25.8.

Derek Stapleton plans to continue work repairing the gradall atarting around 10am.


Saturday, April 16th

All hands to Phoenicia!

George Peck will lead a crew continuing tie replacements east of MP 25.8. They will start at the Phoenicia yard at 8:30am.

The 702 crew will be starting at 10am.

George Liucci plans to lead a brush crew starting at the section house at Pheonicia at 10am, then moving east to Farmer's Crossing.


Sunday, April 17th


George Peck will be starting in Phoenicia at 9am wrapping up work east of MP 25.8, and can use as many volunteers as are available.

Earl Pardini and Joe Marsh will each be leading crews on Sunday morning. Please contact them directly for the exact time and meeting place.

Friday, April 15th

Tom Healy, George Peck and Al Schoessow finished inserting plates and tamping the 185 ties aready inserted near MP 25.8.

Derek Stapleton and Connie Johnson finished work on repairing the gradall in Phoenicia.


Saturday, April 16th

George Peck led a crew consisting of Steve Gollow, George Liucci, Joe Klapkowski, Al Schoessow, Mark Glaser, Tom Healy, Brian Mason and Dave Heick.

Brian and Dave removed 60 ties between MP 25.3 and 25.4, and the rest spiked up the 185 ties previously inserted.

Dave Mason and Derek Stapleton cleaned out the transfer caboose.


Sunday, April 17th

George Peck led a crew consisting of Al Schoessow, Steve Gollow, Jim Bruck, Bob Blake and Mark Glaser. They scarified and tamped the 60 ties inserted yesterday between MP 25.3 and 25.4, and removed, scarified and inserted six more.

Joe Marsh, Marie Marsh, Dick Wilhelm, Todd Syska, Dave Hilliard and Connie Johnson removed spikes from the guardrail on bridge C9.

Earl Pardini led a crew that included Walt Otto, Anthony Gambino, Peter Fluchere, John Patane and Ernie Klopping that notched 20 more ties for the C9 bridge.

Thursday, April 21st

Joe Marsh will lead a brush crew out of Andrews Lane and Shokan on Thursday. They plan to run to set on at Andrew's lane at 9:30am, run to Shokan and back, and set on at Shokan and run to Hurley Mountain Road and back in the afternoon.


Friday, April 22nd

Tom Healy will lead a crew starting at Mt. Tremper at 10am. They plan to continue to tamp, plate and spike the 66 remaining ties east of Mt. Tremper.


Saturday, April 23rd

All hands to Phoenicia!

George Peck will lead a crew continuing trackwork on the west end. They will either work on repairing the washout at MP 24.53 and/or replacing Campground Crossing. They will start at the Phoenicia yard at 8:30am.

The 702 crew will be starting at 10am.


Sunday, April 24th

No crews due to Easter Sunday.

Thursday April 21st

Joe Marsh led a large crew on Thursday clearing the line from Stony Hollow to Phoenicia. From Joe: "We Set on at Andrews Lane and went East clearing the tracks of winter debris and any fallen trees. We got a bit of a late start do to a break down but still arrived at Shokan for lunch. After lunch we moved the Hy-rail truck to West of the DEP crossing and returned to Andews Lane and set off. We then traveled East on Rte 28 to Shokan and set on at the DEP crossing. After another job briefing we then headed East, clearing the tracks of winter debris and any fallen trees. The front section got all the way to 28A. At that point we turned the cars and returned to Shokan and set off."

Thursdays Crew: Al Schoessow, George Cook, Richard Ray, Dave Sigafose Ultan Johnson, Connie Johnson, Russ Hallock, Debra Goodier, Win Goodier, Paul Strernitzke, George Bain, Dick Wilhelm, Marie Marsh, Joe Marsh.

Friday, April 22nd

Today we had several crews working on the west end.

First, Bill Kaba continued work on the new paint job for the interior of the 701.

Second, Tom Healy led a crew consisting of Win Goodier, Mike LaLonde, Joe Marsh, Marie Marsh and Al Schoessow who tamped and plated 66 ties inserted last weekend.

Third, George Peck, Derek Stapleton, Connie Johnson and Paul Sternitzke continued work on the washout at MP 24.53.


Saturday, April 23rd

On Saturday, George Peck led a crew that spiked up the 66 ties west of Mt. Tremper, which included Win Goodier, Al Schoessow, Peter Fluchere, Mike LaLonde, and Mark Glaser.

George also led a crew that included Derek Stapleton, Greg Peck, and Dan Howard that continued work on rebuilding the track at the washout at MP 24.53.

Friday April 29th

Tom Healy led a crew including Al Shoessow, George Peck, Russell Hallock and Gary Lowe.

Writes Tom: "I used the tie handler to do tie cleanup. The rest worked around the tamper. They picked up the south rail elevation just east of Mt Tremper station."


Saturday, April 20th

We had three crews working Saturday.

First, Al Johnson, Bill Kaba and George Liucci worked on coach 701.

Next, Dave Mason and Derek Stapleton worked on the washout at MP 24.53.

Finally, George Peck, Al Schoessow, Gary Lowe, Mark Glaser, Peter Fluchere, snd Dave Heick dropped ballast and tamped the track from Mt Temper West.


Sunday, May 1st

On Sunday, George Peck led a crew including John Patane, Al Schoessow, Joe Logiudice and Mark Glaser, who continued tamping track west of Mt. Tremper.

Thursday, May 5th

On Thursday, May 5th Joe and Marie Marsh cleaned and degreased the spiker in preparation for painting. They also welded in new studs for the top rail for the carriage. In addition they primed the lower supports and bottom rail for the carriage.


Friday, May 6th

On Friday, May 6th, Joe Marsh, Dick Ray and Dick Wilhelm primed the spiker carriage and handles for painting. They also mounted the top rail with the new welded in studs then went on to remove the degreasing agent with a high pressure wash. After lunch they did more painting. Additionally, the carburator of the gandy crane was removed and Dick Ray took it as home work to replace the needle valve and seat.

Also on Friday, Al Schoessow, George Peck and Walt Otto took the tamper to Campground curve and ballasted, jacked and tamped the track.


Saturday, May 7th

On Saturday, May 7th, George Peck led a crew consisting of Dave Mason, Jason DiTolla, Derek Stapleton, Dan Howard, Dave Heick, Mark Glaser, Al Schoessow and Jim Bruck, and continued tamping campground curve and repairing the washout at MP 24.53.

In Shokan, Paul Sternitzke led a crew including George Cook, Bill Brosnan and myself that ran the sickle bar cutter in-gauge from Shokan to the Boiceville Trestle and back.

George Peck will lead a crew replacing Campground Crossing. Three rails and 16 ties need replacement. They will start at the Phoenicia yard at 8:00am.

The 702 crew will be starting at 10am.

Tuesday, May 10th

On Tuesday, Joe Marsh led a crew consisting of Dick Ray and Dick Wilhelm. The worked on the new gandy crane and the spiker.


Friday, May 13th

Al Schoessow and George Peck did preparatory work for the campground crossing repair and did a line inspection to C30.


Saturday, May 14th

George Peck led a large crew in Phoenicia including Dave, Chris and Brian Mason, Jason DiTolla, Derek Stapleton, Peter Fluchere, Dave Heick, Mike Adsit, Al Schoessow, Mike LaLonde, Dan Howard, Chris Burtt, and Mark Glaser. They replaced three rails and 16 ties at campground crossing. They also made minor washout repairs to rock cut, MP 24.1.

In Kingston, Earl Pardini, Mimi Pardini, Joe Klapkowski, Joe Marsh and Marie Marsh made a line inspection with the 401 to bridge C9. While there they pulled the guard rails from the bridge which had previously had spikes removed.


Sunday, May 15th

George Peck led a crew at Phoenicia that included Mark Glaser, Al Schoessow and Joe Klaplowski. They switched cars in the yard in anticipation of Tuesday's charter.

In Shokan, Paul Sternitzke led a crew that included Bill Brosnan and myself. We sickle-bar cut in-guage from Shokan through the end of the siding at West Hurley and back.

Friday, May 20th

On Friday, George Peck led a crew consisting of John Prestopino and Al Schoessow. They inspected the line to MP 23.3 and found 4 joints that needed repair. They also worked on plans for the 23.3 repair.


Saturday, May 21st

Al Johnson worked on coach 701, and weed-wacked the Phoenicia yard.

George Peck led a crew in Phoenicia, including Derek Stapleton, Dave Heick, Al Schoessow, Mark Glaser and Tom Healy. They repaired the broken joints found the previous day. They also set the new crane on the rails and gave it a test run. Earl Pardini and Ken Umhey worked on the slump at MP 25.8.

West of Kingston, Joe Marsh, Marie Marsh, Dick Wilhelm and I cleared brush from the washout at Hurley Flats for the first time since 2009.

Thursday, May 26th

Al Johnson and Bill Kaba continued spruce-up work on coach 701.


Friday, May 27th

On Friday, final preparations were made for opening day. George Peck led a crew consisting of Derek Stapleton and Al Schoessow, and they readied the train for service the next day.


Saturday, May 28th

On Saturday, our season began in Phoenicia with a good crowd due to good weather. George Peck, Al Schoessow, Jeremy Peck, Al Schoessow, and Mark Glaser supported the operating crews with a final line inspection in the morning with the work train.

Train crew was Ray Farrell, Dave Heick (engineer), Bill Kaba, and Dan Howard. Neil Isabelle was ticket agent in Phoenicia and Peter Fluchere in Mt. Tremper.

At Shokan, Paul Sternitzke, Bill Brosnan, George Cook and I ran the sickle bar from West Hurley to the washout at MP 5.53.

Train crew was John Patane (engineer), Walt Otto, and Bob McDonald. Walt doubled as ticket agent in Phoenicia. Peter Fluchere was ticket agent in Mt. Tremper.


Monday, May 30th

Train Crew was Jason Ditolla, John Prestopino, Neil Isabelle, Connie Johnson (trainee w/ Al S.). Bob McDonald was ticket agent in Phoenicia and Peter Fluchere was agent in Mt. Tremper.

George Peck will lead a crew at Phoenicia starting about 9am. He plans to take the worktrain to 23.3 to begin repairs there.


Sunday, June 5th

George Peck will continue work on 23.3 starting at 9:30am at Phoenicia.

Earl Pardini will open Cornell Street Yard at 10am.
