Thanks to Larry Lovejoy for finding that Shorpy version of the photograph. Details are so sharp (you can read some of the posters on the station wall), and there are so many of them (including what looks like steam coming from the vacuum brake muffler), you feel as if you can walk into the photograph.

How many of us wish we could just walk into that picture, and buy a ticked for a trip on that long gone railroad?

That picture of C&T No. 2 at Haines Corners is an old favorite of mine. It's such a classic shot in so many ways, and so full of gorgeous details: the shiny jacket on the newly built Baldwin, the well dressed crew, the little girl with the parasol, and the white church steeple in the distance. Like the fellow in the old Twilight Zone "Willoughby" episode, I really wish I could go back to that time.-Philip Marshall

Indeed!! Indeed!!

I wonder how many of us think we live in the wrong time? I know I do. . .and even have had people tell me so. Even had one lady tell me I reminded her of her grandfather, and she's only one year younger than I am. . .

My wife is worse. She tells me I've been lying about my age for years, says I'm not 60 years old, but am really 160 years old, says I know too much about old things, am too comfortable around old things (particularly trains!) that I must have lived back then!!
