Must all interested parties write a letter to receive the terms of the sale, or can they be posted here by someone who has obtained them?

There are no "terms of sale" to report. Interested parties are to respond to the address listed in a previous post in this thread:

Mr. John K. Fiorilla
Laurel Corporate Center
8000 Midlantic Drive Suite 300 S
Mount Laurel, New Jersey 08054

Write a letter to the trustee, tell him what item(s) you are interested in and your intended use, and that you would be financially responsible to move it. Mr. Fiorilla was very clear in his intentions; to see as many of the items preserved as possible, and he also said it would not necessarily be the high bidder that would be awarded any given item.

So, then as I understand it, a prospective buyer initiates the deal by expressing interest, intentions for use, and ability to transport, but does not make a specfic offer of money.

The seller's statement of price and the buyer's acceptance of it, or the buyer making a counter offer would come later after the seller's intended use and financial ability are approved.

I am of the opinion that there will be some items dispositioned at Pemberton with no money changing hands. The emphasis was on the ability and wherewithal of the recipients to preserve, which includes the removal.

The city wants the stuff gone; the judge has charged the trustee to see to it that the stuff is gone. There was absolutely no conversation regarding "prices" or anything close to it during the discussion between the trustee and the potential recipients.

There were, however, several scrappers in attendance. If you are a preservationist, and you wanted to see things preserved, would you be dispositioned to award any item to a party that will for certain destroy it?

The solicitation for "offers" implies that some of the proposals will be accompanied with dollar amounts. I would think that the scrappers would be content to reap the rewards of the large amounts of track materials in Pemberton. The rail cars and locomotives, I am sure, will all survive their time in Pemberton. That was the tenor of the discussion, and that is the intent of the trustee, IMHO.

wm303,

Thanks for that explanation. That does seem like the logicial outcome to seek in removing the equipment.
