In Kaleva, MI there is Manistee & Northeastern NW2 #3. It sits on a short section of track next to the former crossing of the M&NE and the Pere Marquette. All the tracks are gone, but a station and some mile posts are still there.

Fascinating how the love of trains remains, long after the tracks are pulled up.

The former Rock Island depot in Eldon IA, now isolated, where the former Golden State main and the Des Moines-Keokuk branch crossed in southeastern IA, is a local museum (http://www.eldondepotmuseum.org/updateIdx.html) they bought an ex Santa Fe GP-7 and had it painted for the Rock Island:

If I were them I would have found an ex-RI unit, since it didn't need to run and so would not be that hard to find a shell, but I am not them.
