Post subject: CADILAC AND LAKE CITY SADDLE TANKER
PostPosted: Fri Jun 25, 2004 12:58 pm

I was hoping somebody could help me out. I have been searching for awhile on what happened to the saddle tanker 0-4-0, I believe #11 that ran on the Cadilac and Lake City R.R. in Michigan. I have tried steamlocomotive.com as well as steamlocomotive.info and have not been able to track it down.
Thanks in advance
Ryan

Found it. It has to be one of THE most traveled locos about. From Kelley Island, it went to the C&LC, apparently briefly from there to the Reese Central, then to Hiltons, Virginia, and then even briefly owned by a certain Jery Jacobsen...... now in South Dakota.

Even when it was on the C&LC it was owned by Fred Steck. The Reese Central was what he called his siding in Reese, Michigan. I haven't seen Fred in a couple of years but last I knew he was still around.

Marty,

Somewhere in there it was also owned by Carlton Johnson, of Clio. In fact, I am not sure if Fred Steck even owned it between him and Jerry Joe. Upon the demise of the C&LC, Reese Central was a convenient place to go with the loco. Carlton, Fred, and our friend George Atkinson were all shareholders in the C&LC.

Huckleberry content: between the demise of the Advance Rumley steam tractor, and the present permanent installation; the sawmill at Crossroads Village was powered by Carleton's Case 65 hp, under contract complete with Carl running it.
