For example steel pilots, straight stacks, steel cabs, etc. were added to old engines as they ended their years. To be honest I don't know why someone did this with this locomotive because I don't think it ever ran since its conversion. It's just an 0-4-0T and there are hundreds of them, so I guess the owner figured no great loss converting it. Of course I don't know its history; how many engines this railroad owned, etc. I'd be pretty upset if someone did this to my favorite locomotive. If someone wanted to mess with an engine, there's enough Solvay Process engines that are practically clones. A lot of Carbon Limestone engines were modified. Camp Dry Gulch in Oklahoma reportedly has a converted Carbon Limestone engine, now a 2-4-0, and its operational! Anybody know more or have pictures? I only knew of a 4-4-0 Kings Dominion Crown being there. Anaka and Myrtle mentioned in another post at the LK&P were Carbon Limestone as well, I think perhaps some of the Cedar Point engines are too but I may be wrong. -Ed Kelley GTNGRR@aol.com |
