I have a friend who wanted a custom king cab pickup with all the features, but couldn't afford one. He bought a simple plain truck, then a wrecked king cab, cut and patched the body and frame to lengthen his. Then he got a rebuilt racing motor, replaced the transmission and rear end. He then replaced the suspension, steering and brakes. After that, he added all the extra features and accessories he originally wanted bit by bit, found the charging system wouldn't keep up with the load, and replaced the whole harness as well. It only took him 4 years and cost twice as much as the truck he wanted in the first place to get a blodged trogether version of it, without applying any value for his time. Of course, the original truck was perfectly adequate for his needs in the first place. Are we sure this isn't similar exercise? dave irondave@bellsouth.net |
