Hello all,

I just checked the 40' boxcar (GTW 515747 / CV 54524) at the Connecticut Eastern RR Museum, on which I am repainting the markings. Currently the marking paint has faded so far that there is only a glossy number where the paint was.

Our markings are as follows:
EXW 10' 5" H 13' 7"
EW 9' 4" H 14' 3"

Which correlated as follows: (using a tape measure on the car)

Width to outside of doors: 10' 5"
Height to top of door hangers: 13' 7"
Eave Width 9'-4"
Height to peak of roof: 14'3"
(top of roof walk bracket is 14'-6" so verification of peak is approximate)

So apparently the EW is exterior width and the following H is for body height above railhead.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, Rich. Now I have some verifiable measurement points to check.
