Can anyone tell me the original number of the NYO&W engine in Cuba? Also what wheel arrangement is it and does it still exist? |

Somehow my memory says #117 and a 4-6-0--does that make sense? You might be able to search the archives here at RyPN Interchange--we've discussed this and other US steamers in Cuba in the past, and put together an extensive article on said locos a few years ago (Hey, Erik, wanna repost it?). Okay, a day late: NYO&W 109, 2-6-0, BLW 1923 b/n EO412, reported as derelict and on its side at Juan Avila mill, Matanzas...... with some reports that the loco could actually be New York Loco Works (Rome) 565 of 1890 and rebuilt. The engine has been derelict for so long that it never got a MINAZ number, which means it's probably been sitting around for the better part of 40-50 years....... if indeed it IS still around.
