I just got off the phone with a friend who has 40 years in on a class 1 here in the states. He says their plant is all a buzz about rumors of the Class 1s getting rid of all unions except BLE & UTU & going to all remote control locomotives with one man crews. Says they want to have this implemented by Nov incase the Shrub is not reelected. He asys they are experimenting now with the remotes in Canada. Anybody shed > any light on any of this.....Wooly Whether or not any of this is true (personally, I'm laughing like crazy at this) or simply rumor-mongering (as if the unions would ever try to scare their members!), this topic has nothing whatsoever to do with rail preservation, with the possible exception of staffing issues with CP 2816 or future documentation of the changes in the rail labor forces by rail historians.
