Just an old photo on CV Yahoo Group site of the facilities at St. Albans, VT, about 30 years before I worked there. The coal chute and cinder hoist were subjects of Model Railroader articles and can be found on several model RRs around the country.

Central Vermont Railway 500-series switcher with a drag beside the enginehouse. The latter is still complete and used by that !!***@#$%^&^& bunch that bought the RR. CV 0-8-0s were identical as built to the GTW P5a class, one of which still exists. We explored the idea of trying to get the 8300 from Galt, Illinois and dressing it up as a CV loco, but the idea didn't find much interest locally.

Big 700 2-10-4 on the table. There was four inches of rail left at either end if the engine was centered on the table. Numerous marks on the outer ring rail show the hostlers didn't always stop in time to avoid going off the end.

Bob:

Isn't there a way you can post photos without making us go through a Yahoo registration process? We miss some of the good stuff.

Sorry, not savvy enough with computers to do so. I'm a member of many groups, but choose the "no e mail" option for most. Does not seem to bother me much with spam.

It's a whole lot easier to post and view photos at:
http://www.fradsplace.com/upload.cfm
than at yahoo.
