will the columbus excursion pass the morgan run steam shop? If so, will any of the steam locomotives that are stored there be visible from the train?

I'm sure Jason Johnson or John Rimmasch can be more specific, but yes, the Columbus trip will pass the Morgan Run shops. Shops will be on the north side of the train, but I don't know if any engines will be stored there or all in Dennison. There IS the "dead line" looking south at the shops that has several engines parked on it. That is visible from the train, but I don't know how much will be visible through the underbrush being the middle of Summer.

Enjoy,
Kevin

Yes, the excursion will pass Morgan Run. I'm not sure what if anything though will actually be at the shop since I believe they are pulling 2-8-0 #13 and 0-4-0 #3 to Dennison. I'm not sure if the ten wheeler is outside or in the shop. Most of Ohio Central's locomotives which aren't restored are stored on the old W&LE line south of the shop. You might catch glimpses of these from the excursion, but that's about it.

Sorry Kevin. We must have been posting out responses at the same time, but you beat me by a couple of minutes.

Is that 0-4-0 #3 the one the operated at TVRM in the 1970s? If so would someone be willing to take a couple of pictures of it at Dennison, or enroute (something showing the engine in context, not just a loco-mugshot) and email to me with a note of permission to use in TVRM related material including my website. Thanks in advance if someone can help.

One day, folks are going to realize the true artistry of Mr. Coniglio. If any museum is looking for a standard by which to judge the work of its official historian(s), they should get a copy of John's wonderful book.

In addition to monumentally great photography made over the course of decades, you will see unmatched dedication. John is TVRM's "unofficial historian" and all at TVRM are thankful he has cared for so long.

In other words: Buy his book. You will not be disappointed.

The answer is yes, the Columbus excursion will pass close by the Morgan Run shop and will slow to 10mph so you'll get a good view of everything that's there.

All but one of the steam locos will be at Dennison on display(the 1553 will stay at Morgan Run) and the #3 and the #13 have just been repainted for the Dennison display. The 1553 will be sitting outside the shop on the east side and clearly visible from the train.

Work on 33 is progressing strongly and she will be test fired on Monday 7/27 at 0900.

1551 is the main locomotive i'm interested in seeing. BTW when will 1551 be operational
again? Are there plans for the rest of the steam loco fleet? Thanks again!
