A few photos of the Upper Hudson River RR, in NY State. This was once the North Creek Branch of the Delaware & Hudson, built by Thomas Durant of UP fame. One stall enginehouse at North Creek is original, though added onto to house snow-making pumps for a nearby ski area. Turntable was said to have come from Altamont, NY about 1944. It was put back into operating condition a couple of years ago with state funds (TEA-21, I think), albeit with modern space-age controls. The depot is where Teddy Roosevelt was informed he had become President, following Mckinleys death. Plans are to extend this train ride down to Saratoga eventually, after further track repairs. Alco switcher No. 5 was once the Alco plant switcher. It has been used on several tourist RRs within the last 15 years or so.
