I was up in Damascus, VA (on the Virginia Creeper Trail, of O. Winston Link fame) a few weekends ago. On display downtown is some kind of narrow-gauge critter. From the frame up it looks like a steam locomotive-a boiler (or other horizontal cylandrical container), sand dome, and smokestack plus cab. From the frame down it looks like a two-axle Davenport diesel. When I looked into the "firebox", I saw what looked like an internal combustion engine. No tubes, grates, etc. The only reference I can find on it is that it was once used in a logging setting. Anyone have any more info on this critter?

That is a wild one. Here is a photo. I suspect it is a gas/mechanical of some kind, with a simulated boiler.
