Press Release August 3, 2004

Train Festival 2004 Brings 27,000 visitors to Dennison, Ohio

During July 30th through August 1st of 2004, as many as 27,000 visitors descended on the small town of Dennison, Ohio for AmericaÂ’s Largest Celebration of Railroading, Train Festival 2004. Dennison, a town with a population of 3,900, became the place to go to see trains of all sizes. Rain showers on Friday and Saturday did not stop the thousands of visitors from coming out for the event. Families and railroad enthusiasts from around the country and world enjoyed three days of railroading at its best.

“This is one of the best train shows that I have ever been too, and I have been to many” Calvin Borg said on Sunday. Calvin flew to Ohio from his home over seas in Great Britain. Other visitors came from Russia, Brazil, Germany, Australia, Canada and most of the 50 states.

All of the families that we spoke with were very happy with the event. Visitors were able to enjoy a one-hour or a three-hour train ride, visit the cab of a locomotive, watch the model trains, take a ride on a miniature railroad, browse through the vendors, visit the railroad museum and eat some great food.

The Train Festival Planning Committee would like to extend a heart felt thanks to the employees and volunteers of the Ohio Central Railroad, Dennison Railroad Museum and the Village of Dennison and the many sponsors that helped make the event possible. Without the support of these people the event would nowhere be the success that it was. A special thanks goes out to Jerry Jacobson, Chairman of the Ohio Central Railroad, for displaying his equipment and lending the use of his tracks for the event.

The Train Festival Planning Committee is in the process of planning a larger event for the summer of 2006. We have full intentions of making an announcement later this fall regarding 2006. Plans will be announced on our website www.ocsteam.com.

We want to thank everyone that came out and supported the event and we hope that you will make plans for 2006!
