on the same subject at chaski's railfan board.. I saw him at OC last weekend but he was busy with the throttle and brakes. The Fort Wayne guys in the tent had a nice exhibit, including plenty of photos of the rebuild. Jim Re: 765 Posted By: Rich Melvin Date: Tuesday, 27 July 2004, at 9:37 p.m. In Response To: 765 (GP40) The 765 is doing just fine. The demonstrated hydrostatic test for the FRA was completed July 6, which means the boiler work is completed. New wheels and overhauled running gear are in the shop, ready to go back under her. Progress is a bit slow right now because several of our crew have been helping the Ohio Central get the 33 ready for the big Trainfestival. The overhaul crew is doing some very fine work on this project, and when the 765 hits the road again she will be almost like new. Plans call for a test/break-in run somewhere this fall. It will not be publicized. Excursions will begin in the spring. They will be publicized! Check the web site for pics and updates. NKP 765's Web Site http://nctrans.org Wrinnbo@aol.com |

Their web site has not been updated for a very long time and I am interested in seeing more photos of the rebuild. I understand that the crew was busy on the 33 at OC. Maybe now that the big push is over at OC, someone may have a little more time to update the site with more photos. I want to express gratitude for the 765 crew for their endurance and hope to see her run again soon. Best wishes, JD mnfrailhist@hotmail.com |

I haven't read it yet but it was mostly about the completion of the good hydro, which has got to be a relief for these guys after lots of hard and expensive work. Naturally, I encourage y'all to join this or whatever group you think is out there keeping the fires burning, teaching the next generation or just putting a smile on people's faces...all that's needed is those cubic dollars!
