Greetings,

I'm helping a friend put this list of existing C&NW heavyweights together. If you could add to it, I would appreciate it.

God Bless,
Gerald W. Kopiasz

Illinois Railway Museum
4103 / X300999 Coach
7700 Combination Coach Baggage (could be considered an early lightweight car)
8609 / X301088 Baggage
8728 / X300778 Baggage
8784 / X300742 Auto/Baggage
Floyd River 10-1-2 Sleeper (plan 3973A)

Mid-Continent Railway Museum
440 Business Car (Originally Pullman "Meadowlark")
7409 Combination Coach Baggage

Midland Railway Historical Association
441 Combination Coach Baggage (CStPM&O, steel sheathed wood)

Minnesota Transportation Museum
8676 / X300100 Baggage
199090 Coach - (Used to be listed on their site but no longer listed.)
8699 / X300728 Baggage - (Used to be listed on their site but no longer listed.)

National Railroad Museum
7411 Combination Coach Baggage
Joseph Lister Mayo Clinic Hospital Car (plan 4003)

Oconto, WI - On Abandoned 250' Spur - Owner Unknown
8647 / X300004 Baggage

As noted above, there are two cars "missing" from the Minnesota Transportation Museum's roster. I seem to recall hearing that they were stored "off site" - does anybody know where they went?

I have heard that there may be a coach or two at the Douglas, WY depot. Can anyone confirm this?

In addition to the above, does anyone know of other C&NW or CStPM&O heavyweight cars that can be added to this listing of survivors?

Gerald,
There are two ex-Omaha HW cars in Spooner, Wi. The open section sleeper "Humbird" and a 60-65 ft bag car. If you need more info on them contact Greg Vreeland President Wiscsonsin Great Northern Railroad at greg@spoonertrainride.com. He's the owner of the cars and would be more than happy to let you inspect them if you are ever in the area. He also has one of the orginal Omaha Namakogan(sp?) "doddle bug" cars self I can check on the Douglas cars for you but it may take a week or so.

You can also add CStPM&O mail car #301 at the Colfax RR Museum in Colfax, WI. The car was previously used as a house/storage shed and is being restored. Car is only 42' long.

Dear Herb,

Is there a place on the web where photos of this and other equipment owned by the Colfax RR museum could be viewed on-line?

Herb,

Ditto here. It sounds like you've got a lot of interesting equipment you're restoring, and it would be great to be able to see what you've got, and what you've done with it.
