 Post subject: NS Recruiting at AA Baseball/Any Precedent?

Tonight, as the Harrisburg Senators dropped another game to the Altoona Curve, at least 4 times the scoreboard had info about an upcoming NS job fair.

My understanding is that before the great post-war contraction, they used legacy recruiting (a little like nepotism-but useful in a world where facts were few and family honor would ensure that the ol' man would make sure junior got to work on time and ready to go with a proper attitude).

Of course today's drug tested, fault intolerant world requires that you find as high a percentage of suitable individuals as possible among your recruits.

Stories I've heard of the old days were of some gravel-voiced foreman rattling the cages of some young kid with such probing questions as "so your John Smith's kid" and telling the kid to show up on Monday at...

Have railroads ever had to recruit for operating crafts before?
