For those who are interested, Smithsonian Magazine ( September 2004 ) issue has a nice article on private railroad cars. The article is titled Easy Riders and it is currently out at book stores. The article can be read on line ( without the photographs ) by going to the Smithsonian Magazine website and clicking on current issue, then Easy Riders. Yes, that's a good article, although way too short. There's something satisfying about knowing they're still being used for their originally intended task, well cared for. If only they were more accessible to fans. |
