From the GM&O 72 thread below was a brief mention about the Casey Jones Museum in Vaughn, Mississippi closing. Can y'all shed more light on this??? |

Basically, the Casey Jones Museum is never open anyway. It's in a "bad" part of Mississippi, in the middle of nowhere, and when it is open no one goes there. Unfornately, as a resident of the state and seeing the kind of mess the state is in, I have to agree with Haley Barbour on this one. What worries me is what may happen to the 0-6-0 and some of the artifacts that are displayed there. If a non-profit group wants to take control of this museum, I have no problem with that. But the state does not need to be involved with it anymore. There hasn't been a public outcry in Mississippi over this because most Mississippians don't even know it exists, and, if they do, they don't care. That's why there's only a brief mention of it in the article that Erik provided a link to. |
