Jason, outstanding! Thanks for posting the photos.

(could you explain the smokestack extension gizmo, is that a blower
to facilitate draft?)

Thanks.

Great Looking locomotive, I see that it is in the LS&I paint, is this going to be a new thing with ristoring locomotives to its historical apperance?
Congratulations and Thank You to the whole Ohio Central Steam Crew for keeping the flame lit in Steam railroading.

Very nice work. That's decent time for a restoration like that on a substantially-sized standard gauge locomotive, around a year give or take. It looks great. Now I wish the LS&I #23 was in that picture doing a test firing at Phoenicia here in the Empire State :)

Yes, the thingy is used to create draft until sufficient pressure is built up to run the blower.

Jason, Thanks for posting the pictures attesting to your successfull fire up!! Glad to read that you're now going to take her back inside and finish the many tasks needed to make her ready for service after her cool down!
To the Ohio Central steam professionals, Gary Bensman and the many many volunteers who labored so hard on her this last year a hearty THANK YOU! And the same of course to Mr. Jerry Jacobson,CEO who made it possible!
Can't wait to see her pulling a 5,000 ton coal drag into Conesville!!

Jason,

I heard that 33 was to pull the Canal Winchester to Logan Train but on the OC steam Page it lists Vintage 1950's diesel locomotives. So i take 33 will not be ready for the October 9 Trips?

Post subject:  33 Questions

Josh,

We do hope to have the #33 done by this October. However she will not be on the Canal Winchester Trains. This trip is being run on a railroad that is not owned by the Ohio Central Railroad. This railroad has approved the trip with diesel only. We had hoped to run this trip with the #33, but it looks as if it will have to be diesel this year. We hope to build a good relationship with them that will allow future trips.
