Former Atlantic Coast Line roundhouse remnant at Richmond, Va., 1983. I presume it is long gone today?

Were there only three stalls, or was it once larger?

Hi Bobyar, In my travels to bustling historic Richmond, VA, I had never seen this roundhouse. Of course, I've only started visiting Richmond about ten years ago...

According to the caption in the last photo:

"This photo was posted on the ACL-SAL HS webpage about a year ago, as a guess where it is type photo. This view is from the US-301 overpass at the yard throat. The small yard office sat on the other side of 301, in the cut under the bridge. This yard remained until sometime in the mid 1980s, when it was completely removed. The SCL, and even SBD based a couple of yard jobs out of
there, and you could often find some power here. The yard tracks were sometimes used for car storage. Fortunately, I stopped by on a couple of occassions when the area seemed somewhat safe, and grabbed a
few shots. All of this is now gone, and the cut under US-301 filled in.

Enjoy!

Russell Underwood "

Hope this helps! Thanks for posting the photos. Gives me something to search out my next time there.

The yard was at the intersection of us1 (jeff davis) and rt. 60. The area is now filled with office buildings including the residential area seen in the right side of the photos.

The yard was in the large white area above the rr yard along the river (southern)

the roundhouse was just to the right of the onramp cloverleaf in the aerial view.
