Just some photos of UP 3985, powering the Cheyenne Frontier Days train this past July. We've all seen hundreds of similar images, but it still amazes me that a company that stoops so low as to try to make pocket change off kids' train sets would still continue to operate this magnificent locomotive. Steve Lee and the boys are pretty good salesmen...

I'd say these photos are well above the average of the "hundreds of similar images" we've all seen. I can testify it was a nasty ugly day, one that would have had a lot of folks deciding to leave their cameras at home. But this photographer knew exactly what he was doing.
It would have made an interesting study that day to take a picture of every photographer that was taking a picture of the train; there were literally hundreds of them. People that probably drove for hours to see it and people on their porches. And one woman in an SUV pacing the train on the highway parallel, standing up through her sunroof with her camera. And Steve had it up and running on that stretch.
