At the Lake Superior RR Museum:

> As most list members know, for the past two years the Lake
> Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth has put on a Railfan
> Weekend. Volunteer event organizer Steve Glischinski and
the
> museum staff have done some very interesting things, such
as
> running a simulated Soo Line ore train with a GP30 and
> F-unit, and GN passenger trains.
>
> This year they have really gone all out. They are
borrowing
> the Wisconsin Great Northern's F7, which is painted in a
> GN-like scheme and intend to use magnetic signs and such
to
> make it into a GN passenger train, using the museum's four
> cars painted in Great Northern passenger colors.
>
> Another train will be a heavyweight passenger train with
the
> Soo Line FP7 pulling the train, which will include a
baggage
> car and DM&IR Northland and W-24. Returning from Two
> Harbors, which will be will cut off the Soo unit and
baggage
> and put the DM&IR SD18 193 on to simulate an inspection
> train. All these trains will run on Saturday September 11.
>
> The night before, they will have a night photo session
with
> the WGN and Soo F-units, plus the Museum's Erie Mining F9
> and the DM&IR 193.
>
> CP is sending up a GP38-2 for display, and CN is sending
one
> of their Illinois Central E9s, (still painted in IC
colors!)
> also for
> display. So on Sunday September 12 you would be able to
get
> a photo of four cab units lined up nose to nose: an IC E9,
> Erie F9, WGN F7
> and Soo FP7.
>
> The whole thing costs $150, which includes a box lunch,
> beverages, train rides on Saturday and to the night photo
> session, and cab rides if you want one. If you wanted to
> just come on just part of the weekend, you could: night
> session is $50, Saturday train is $100, and Sunday "line
up"
> is only $15. A heck of a deal if you ask me.
>
> If list members get this e-mail and have been thinking
about
> coming, I'd urge you to do so. Or if you know someone who
> might be interested, please forward this e-mail to them.
If
> you or someone you know want to come, just call the North
> Shore Scenic RR number, 1-800-423-1273.

> Thanks!
