When running on the Black River & Western in New Jersey some years ago. Later went to the Valley RR in Connecticut and lastly to Michigan. Did it make the last trip on its own wheels?

A favorite from my Colorado youth, transported to far off New Jersey. A modern (1937) Alco stock model, last steam locomotive purchased by the Great Western Railway of Colorado. Is it running on the BR&W this year?

And a friendly wave from the fireman at Milliken, December 12, 1946.

RE: 148

I recall seeing a photo in RAILPACE showing ex-FEC 4-6-2 148 in tow behind a CR diesel while enroute to Traverse City, MI; so yes the last move was made on its own wheels.

RE: 60

No, ex-GW 2-8-0 60 isn't operational on the BR&W (she last ran in 2000). Overhaul work is still ongoing at Ringoes.

Jim Robinson
