Post subject:  NKP 765 is BACK ON HER WHEELS

At 12:21pm EDT on September 9, 2004, exactly 60 years and a day from when she was first outshopped from the Lima Locomotive Works, Nickel Plate Road Berkshire #765 once again rested on her own wheels. Riggers from the Don Fruchey company in Fort Wayne, gently lowered the boiler on to the wheels and precisely at 12:21pm, with a gentle "thump" the boiler settled into position on the new wheels.

After being "up on blocks" for about 2 years while running gear work was underway, that new running gear is once again supporting the 765's boiler. Give us a couple days and we'll have photos on our web site.
