Southern Pine Lumber Co. "Pershing" (ex-Army) 2-8-0 No. 28. People today know it as No. 300, painted bright red on the Texas State RR.

And here is what TSRR #300 looked like just last Saturday. I took my family and our Sunday School class to ride the train, and #300 was our engine:

She recieved a new boiler just a few years ago. I noticed that on both of the trestles in both directions, they blew down the boiler. On the last half of the Rusk-Palestine leg, the kids stood with me on the observation car platform just behind the tender where they could experience it up close. I think we will all remember it for some time to come.
