Friday 9-17-04: A delivery of rail was hauled north and stacked at the freshly painted Alna Center station. This is being done in preparation for the upcoming October track-laying weekend.

Stephen: Where are they going, and how far? Looks like a fair amount of rail!

TO everyone else who reads this, if you can make the time to get up to Maine and see this little operation, you won't be disappointed. Hopefully, they might fire up #10 on the occassion. It will be close to peak foliage weekend in Maine, and the WW&F, brought back entirely by railfans, is the country's best example (my opinion) of what organized people can do when they have a common goal.

Prediction: WW&F will someday be the Strasburg of the Northeast.

Richard, I'm not sure that there is a set distance, but I believe the basic plan is to build passing sidings at Alna Center and at Sheepscot and to continue building northward as far as possible.

folks,

I just visited the museum last Saturday. I saw a steam engine celebrating its 100th birthday pulling a 110 year old passenger car that was on home rails. Now that is the way to preserve railroad history!

Their short tern plan is to build a couple of run around sidings at the two stations and avoid the present out and back with the engine going backwards half the time.

As mentioned above, track will be laid soon and more trees are will be cut off the right of way this winter. Land purchases are in the works which will allow a replica water tower to be built and more rail put in service in the future.
