Post subject:  Hugo roundhouse has a website

One of my favorite projects, the old UP roundhouse at Hugo, Colorado, has a new website. It still has some work to see completion, but gives a good synopsis of the project and some good history. They could use an 85-foot deck girder turntable if anyone runs across one. The site has a lot of potential to become an accurately-restored historic site as the property remains open and Hugo's depot still exists, moved a short distance away some years ago to prevent its destruction by the railroad. Hugo's roundhouse is one of only two complete facilities from the original pre-merger UP. The other complete roundhouse is at Evanston, Wyoming and is also under restoration. A third partial facility, greatly reduced in size but nicely restored by the RR, is at Cheyenne, Wyoming, housing part of the UP historic collection.

Post subject:  merger

This would be the Kansas Pacific / Union Pacific merger. This was actually the first transcontinental line as the Promontory route had no permanent braidge across the Mississippi until about 6 months later.

Post subject:  Pre-WP, MP, C&NW, etc..

Actually, I meant before the UP started swallowing up RRs like the MP, WP, C&NW, etc.. The "real" UP.
