Post subject:  Driver fatality on RH&D

As noted in Flimsies, an engine driver was killed by a motorist who drove past warning devices and collided with his locomotive on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway, the famous miniature railway in Kent, England. Very sad.

May I respectfully point out that 1) this accident happened in August 2003, not recently, and 2) if I recall correctly, we commented on it here back then.[/b]

Why so it was, and so we did. My apologies.

Post subject:  Result of trial or miscarriage of justice?

The car driver, Marie Scrace, has been found not guilty of dangerous driving but guilty of driving without due care and attention. She has been fined £500 and banned from driving for 12 months.

I would imagine that the family of the dead locomotive driver must feel disgusted by this outcome and the message that using a car to kill someone is a minor offence........

The "justice" system never fails to disappoint me.
