why are they called "flimsies"?

what is insubstantial about them?

What is insubstantial about them is they are links to online articles that frequently are only there for a few weeks, days, or in some cases even just hours. Somewhat ephemeral.....

The term flimsies, I believe, comes from the flimsy pieces of paper that train orders were written on, which too were short lived affairs time wise. "REAL" railroaders (at least one anyhow) have told me that is a foamer term and the REAL railroaders didn't call them flimsies, they called them train orders.

Also been told the term relates somehow to newspaper articles, but I don't know the defintion in that context.
