Question about steam locomotive parts in Tillamook Oregon

I spotted these parts to a locomotive in the Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad yard, in Tillamook, Oregon.

Can anyone tell me what type of locomotive this used to be, where it worked, what it's history is and what the POTB plans to do with it? You find more pictures I took of more parts on my POTB Page of my website:

Well, the trucks are from either a Shay or a Willamette. Notice the bevel gears on the end of the axles.

As Brian said, this is definitely a Shay-type locomotive. There are four Shays we have listed in Oregon. But, looking through the pictures I have and Doug Bailey's collection on www.survivingworldsteam.info, they are all intact, so it is not one of these.

This is either an undocumented steam locomotive, or one that has come from out-of-state. I noticed in your article that Scott Wickert is running his Hiesler at Tillamook. Scott and his father have been working on Stimson Lumber #23 for many years now. But it is a an early "tee" boiler Shay (Lima 169/1887), and that is a regular straight boiler, so that is not it. I wonder if it is another one of Scott's projects.

It is Rayonier #3 (2-truck shay) that has been stored for several years at the Mt. Rainier Scenic RR shops at Mineral WA.

This locomotive is Rayonier #3, shay #2305, as stated in an earlier post. It moved from Mineral, Wa (MRSR) in July of this year. I plan to restore her and opereate #3 with the operational Heisler #2. Scott Wickert and I have had two great seasons running #2 here on the Oregon Coast. We've set up a web site at http://ocsr.net The web site is still under construction, but I've added some nice picts from the last couple of years.
