this great train state has just received the highest mark for the railfan movement. I've just come back from vacation - the best railroad museum I've seen is the Pennsy State - close second is Steamtown and Altoona. Nice job there, guys.
Foe pure funk - nothing beats the EBT. WOW! Hope the termintes continue to hold hands over the winter. Terrific - four steam locomotives going at once. The noon whistle show - WOW!!!!!
Nothing wrong with ride up hill at WMSR, the New Hope lines, nice long ride at Kane. Also nearby, a great display at the B&O RR Museum.
I hope I can go back soon. It was my first trip to these locations.
bigjiml1955@yajoo.com |

Jim,
Here in the east we are lucky to have two places we can taste big time steam on the mainline. The Western Maryland and Steamtown both offer outstanding trips up mainline grades with speeds and sounds that are hard to beat. Both places run a decent schedule and should not be left off the schedule for someone who is visiting our eastern states.
Tom Gears
|
