Post subject:  Updates from the Reading Co. Technical and Historical Soc. ?

Hello all,

Does anybody have any recent news on what has been happening at the RCT&HS? There website hasn't been updated since January. They were in the process of retrieving two passenger cars that had been restaurants, closing a deal on a industrial plant to be used as a museum. In addition, has anything happened with the Amtrak 10-6 and nee-NYC dining car section of a twin unit diner?

Any and all info is appreciated.

We have completed the purchase of the steel foundry and are working on plans to convert it into a museum and seeking funding to make it happen. The cafe dining car #2060 has been moved to active rail and awaits the relocation of a set of trucks to move it to our work site. the dining car #1186 in Philadelphia is awaiting funding to pay for the moving expenses. The ex SP 10-6 is owned by a member and needs some minor TLC. The Budd dining car has not been moved to our work site and may be declared surplus to our needs as we had intended on using it as a volunteer lounge but we will be converting a room in the foundry as a volunteer lounge.

Dear Mike,

Thanks for the Info. Has anything firm happened with the former GTW baggage that was to be de-accessioned? Has the ex-MA-PA GP-7 arrived on site yet? The RCT&HS is a really dynamic group and I always look forward to news from them. Likewise, please keep the board posted on developments at the foundry. I am have done some work with with Brownfield law and funding and the RCH&HS may be eligible for some redevelopment and remediation grants.
